The White Marlin Bite is On! – 8/2/2026

White marlin fishing has been on fire in Ocean City!! This past week, the fleet has been coming back with riggers full of flags. Friday, July 31st, the “Billfisher” and the “Max Bet” both came back with 30 or more flags, and every boat we talked to had double-digit white marlin bites. The fish are out there, just in time for the 53rd Annual White Marlin Open. We had the chance to talk to Chester Sims from the “Lights Out” about his day on July 27th, he ended the day with 2 blue marlin releases and 7 white marlin releases. Chester also told us he was excited and ready to get into the Open! Check out the video to see the full interview.  Today is a prep day for the White Marlin Open on the docks, and from talking with some of the guys on the docks, it seems like most of the boats will be laying on Monday and will shoot to go Tuesday. It’s going to be an exciting week here in Ocean City! At Sunset Marina, we have vendors at Sunset Provisions and Atlantic Tackle. Both stores are fully stocked with White Marlin Open shirts and everything you need for the week ahead! Good luck and tight lines! We can’t wait to see you all back at the docks.

Big Fish Classic & Bluefin Bite – 7/24/26

It’s starting to really feel like tournament season again as we gear up for the Big Fish Classic. A few boats ventured out today for their 36 hours of fishing, but most are getting ready to fish on Saturday and Sunday. We got some intel from Anthony Pino from the “Second Wind” on their strategy for the Big Fish Classic. Give the video a watch to see how the “Second Wind” is preparing for the tournament. Other boats have been going out and coming back with bluefin! “Blue Runner” recently had a junior angler come back with their first tuna ever that was almost as tall as he is! The best is getting to see the next generation get excited about fishing. Captain Mark on the “Marli” has been on the tuna. Today he caught five bluefin and came back around 1:30 pm with his limit. You can’t beat that! Good luck and tight lines to everyone fishing the Big Fish Classic. We look forward to seeing you all back at the docks after your 36-hour trip.

“Boss Hogg”
“Fin Planner”

We have had some great Ocean City fishing the past few weeks! This past weekend, we had the 39th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament at the Ocean City Fishing Center, and we saw some unreal tuna fishing! The scales were jam-packed Friday and Saturday. We saw lots of yellowfin and a few over 100 pounds! “Boss Hogg” took home the Single Heaviest Tuna with a 200.5-pound bluefin, earning them a check over $629,000. “Fin Planner” took home Heaviest Stringer with a two-day total of 725 pounds, earning them a check for over $201,000. Congrats to all of the teams that participated in this year’s tournament! It was definitely one to remember! In the midst of the Tuna Tournament, the marlin started showing up, and lots of crews are ready to switch over to marlin tackle. It should be an exciting weekend around Ocean City, with the Marlin Clubs Kid’s Classic Tournament starting today, and lots of boats were gearing up to go out fishing today!

“Cabana”
“Christine Marie”
Absolute Pleasure”
“Marli”
“Second Wind”

4th of July weekend is off to a great start! We had a bunch of boats fishing, and they all came back with wheelbarrows full of fish! “Christine Marie” and “Cabana” both were back to the docks before 2 o’clock. They both ventured out to the Baltimore Canyon. “Christine Marie” found a nice-sized blue marlin out there and brought back 14 yellowfin! “Cabana brought back 3 bigeyes weighing in at 184 lbs, 173 lbs, and 155 lbs, and 5 yellowfin taking up 4 wheelbarrows full of tuna. They told us they had non-stop action, starting with some yellowfin, and around 10 o’clock they had 5 bigeye bites on and got 3 of them to the boat. “White Lighting” had a white release in the Baltimore and brought back 4 yellowfin and a pile of golden tilefish back to the docks. “Marli” started their day off helping a pursuit boat that was sinking; even after helping out a fellow boater and losing some fishing time, they brought back 13 yellowfin from the Baltimore. “Absolute Pleasure” ventured out to the Poormans with a group of lady anglers! They got covered up with 6 on at a time and said they had the best time. They ended up bringing back 12 yellowfin total. “Second Wind” had a great day; they released a blue marlin and brought back a bigeye and a yellowfin! We have some boats out fishing on the 4th, with some talk of “C-Boys” having a bigeye. From the word on the docks, Sunday is gearing up to be another big fishing day! The tuna bite is on, just in time for the Ocean City Tuna Tournament next weekend! Tight lines, everyone!
